World of Pineapples

Pineapples Don’t Have Sleeves is an emerging Colombian brand recognized for its unique and colorful patterns inspired by art movements and pop culture. The brand was created in 2015 with a now renowned name that evokes a surrealist and kitsch aesthetic, and funnily enough, a special care on the sleeves. With each collection, a new world is born to dress a community of women that are motivated to find confidence through their individuality and true selves. We’re a Colombian brand with a differentiating DNA: from the name, that evokes a surrealist and childish paradox; a kitsch and ironic aesthetic; daring prints that immerse you in our world; and a provocative and magic color palette. This time, we venture across the country to highlight the joy in the ways we dress, our cultural heritage, the Vallenato music, and its great companion, the Vueltiao Hat. Additionally, our collection proudly showcases the great architecture that distinguishes each Colombian city as a unique world worth exploring.

This collection is inspired by the animated film Toy Story, a tale about being yourself and celebrating the most important part of your childhood, the toys. This collaboration honors the work of three women who have marked the history of art in Colombia forever, creating a juxtaposition between Pineapples and their work: Débora Arango with her irreverence, Ethel Gilmour with her irony, and Marta Elena Vélez with her versatility.

    A collaboration to tell stories of first times: temporary for many, nostalgic for others, but always a beginning. Do you remember how you felt the first time you saw the sea, that you were afraid, or maybe when you overcame an obstacle that seemed impossible? That’s what this collection is about, fun quotes to celebrate the difficult times we've overcome and the strength we have for those coming.
  • WE THE WOMEN

    We created this collection inspired by the need for a change of attitude, a revolutionary act to love and respect each other, and for a socially and economically equal world of the sexes. Our collection features t-shirts for everyday life with oversized silhouettes and printed hoodies serving as a means to convey a message and reinforce our commitment to equality. A part of the proceeds from this collection will also be donated to the Niñas Sin Miedo foundation, an organization that supports girls in difficult situations through cycling and education.

    Inspired by the advertising of the 50s, we created imagery in our prints showing the reality of that time while contrasting it with our idea of empowered women. The collection creates an interesting dynamic by mixing the illustrations where you see the woman dependent and weak contrasted with quotes that reflect the current context.
  • BARBARELLA

    This collection is based on the heroine movie from the ’60s, Barbarella, whose namesake character was known for her charisma and eroticism. Designs with symmetrical prints inspired by the iconic looks of the leading lady contrast with the signature Pineapples fun and showy aesthetic. A game of lines in which each graphic represents a different but harmonious world, with pieces that highlight the female figure with various tonalities and representations that manage to take you to Barbarella’s world.

    Throughout this collection, Pineapples wants to exalt the religious icons who have accompanied Colombians for years in situations of pain and fear. Religion is intertwined with culture and arises in artistic expressions, like fashion. You can find the symbology in the prints of stained glasses, flowers, crowns, and crosses, and like that, the vestiges of our theme appeared in the dresses and shoes.

    A collection born from the memorable concept of the Arctic Monkeys’ song of the same name that evokes a desired place between what’s real and imaginary. “505” was inspired by the work of the master Fernando Botero, the colorful world and comics of Roy Lichtenstein, the suggestive poetic lyrics of Arctic Monkeys, and the psychedelic fashion of the 60s. The mixture of these elements makes art and fashion a single language.
  • JABBERWOCKY

    Enter a whimsical world inspired by Lewis Caroll’s poem “Jabberwocky.” In the book “Alice Through the Looking Glass”, Jabberwocky literally means senseless, and that was exactly what we aimed for with this collection. Here, we mix two opposite worlds: on one hand, the neon bright side, and on the other, pastel colors and the refined style of Rococo, represented by an over-the-top styling, kitsch imagery, and an attention to detail that makes every single design unique
  • OH, DARLING

    Introducing Pineapples’ first collection, one inspired by the much-criticized subject of child beauty pageants. The fake and crazy reality lived by the girls is morphed into a surrealistic vision through the world of René Magritte. Always from a childish perspective, the designs show graphic imagery through playful prints. The child’s mind is shown through an explosion of colors and silhouettes that look as if they were pulled from a little girl’s closet.
